So this sound is suspected of causing physical injury and brain damage...and they published a recording of it for us all to listen to?

Heck, you can get that from a Slim Whitman album.

The US has its version of a Sonic Weapon!

This Canadian city is plagued by an obnoxious humming—and it’s getting worse
Research points to irregular steel mill operations on Zug Island, but questions abound.

Years before diplomats in Cuba were assailed by grating noises and left with baffling brain injuries, the residents of a Canadian city began hearing maddening hums and rumbles. The deep noises mysteriously wash in and out of their neighborhoods and homes, hitting the ears of some but not all residents. And according to recent local news coverage, the eerie disturbances are now getting bad again.

Since 2011, some residents of Windsor, Ontario—directly across the border/river from Detroit, Michigan—reported intermittent bursts of noise established as the “Windsor Hum.” It’s described as a low-frequency throbbing sound, like a fleet of idling diesel engines, a distant rumble of thunder, or a roaring furnace. Some “hummers” report feeling vibrations, too, and having items in their homes rattle. They’ve linked the hum to depression, nausea, sleep problems, heart palpitations, ear aches, headaches—not to mention widespread annoyance.

They only suspect the factory on the U.S. side but we're not playing nice about it and refuse access to their investigative team.

They're going to have to get the UN involved. A strong letter warning of a potential international condemnation is forthcoming.

They still have no idea, but they're "making progress"!

FBI making 'a lot of progress' in finding answers on health attacks in Cuba

Lima, Peru

The FBI is closer to finding answers about the mysterious attacks that caused health ailments in at least 24 U.S. diplomats, relatives and intelligence agents in Havana, Republican Sen. Marco Rubio told the Miami Herald. And the symptoms of some victims are so severe they will not be able to return to work.

“I was briefed last Wednesday by the FBI. They have been investigating this and they have made a lot of progress,” Rubio said Saturday in Lima, where he'd traveled to attend the eighth Summit of the Americas.

According to the Florida senator, who sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the FBI “has been able to rule out several theories in terms of the technology that was used and I think there will come a time when we will know a little more.”

Rubio said some of the victims have severe disabilities as a result of the alleged attacks.

“We are talking about Americans and their relatives who are suffering today with what is typically seen after a traumatic car accident. Many, more than six or seven, will never be able to work, and [there are] others who cannot work, who are disabled and work five or six hours a day,” Rubio said.

A study by the University of Michigan suggested that the attacks — initially described as “sonic,” because several of the victims heard sounds and felt vibrations — could have been the result of surveillance gone awry: if eavesdropping devices are too close to each other, the resulting interference causes noises similar to those heard by the victims, the computer scientists who launched the study found.

But Rubio said the incidents in Havana were “targeted,” not the result of an accident, because the theory does not explain the “directional” character of the sensations experienced by the victims and described in a medical article published by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

Rubio did not rule out that Russia could be behind the alleged attacks, which took place at diplomatic residences and at the Capri and Nacional hotels in Havana between November 2016 and August 2017.

“All the hypotheses stand. There are two things being studied: who did it and how they did it. On the subject of how they did it, that is progressing. On the issue of who did it, I think the first question is going to answer the second one,” he said.

Makes you wonder how the US government knows so much about sonic weapons.....

Tests performed on mice show the threshold for both lung and liver damage occurs at about 184 dB. Damage increases rapidly as intensity is increased. Noise-induced neurological disturbances in humans exposed to continuous low frequency tones for durations longer than 15 minutes involved development of immediate and long-term problems affecting brain tissue. The symptoms resembled those of individuals who had suffered minor head injuries. One theory for a causal mechanism is that the prolonged sound exposure resulted in enough mechanical strain to brain tissue to induce an encephalopathy.

Science News wrote:Here’s why scientists are questioning whether ‘sonic attacks’ are real

[…]
But some scientists and engineers have been questioning whether such attacks are possible, and if the diplomats’ symptoms could have been caused by a sonic attack.

The attacks were supposedly committed with sounds outside the range of human hearing. But generating enough acoustical energy to cause hearing loss and brain damage from those types of sound waves would be no easy feat, says Andrew Oxenham, a hearing researcher at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The intensity of very low frequency infrasound or very high frequency ultrasound drops rapidly over distance, so attackers would need enormous loud speakers to have enough intensity to do neurological harm.

“Even to get across the street and into a building, you’d have to have a loud speaker the size of a building,” Oxenham says.

It might be possible to focus ultrasound into a tight beam to stage a high-intensity ultrasound attack. But even with such a beam it would be difficult to make a device small enough to be used as a handheld weapon, says Tyrone Porter, a biomedical engineer at Boston University. And that device would be more likely to lead to disorientation than brain damage, he says.

Very little data exist on whether and how ultrasound in the air affects human health. One of the few people to tackle the question is Timothy Leighton, a professor of ultrasonics and underwater acoustics at the University of Southampton in England. He has investigated previous claims of people who complained that they had been victims of sonic attacks.

Some reported incidents were false alarms. But in other cases, Leighton recorded evidence of ultrasound in air at railway stations, museums and swimming pools where people had reported attacks, although the exposure was shown to be accidental, not an attack. He doesn’t know for sure how ultrasound causes symptoms such as the headaches and nausea described by the diplomats. But he suspects subaudible noise makes people anxious, which leads to the reported symptoms. The U.S. government employees in Cuba and China may be experiencing similar anxiety if exposed to ultrasound, he says.

[Snipped a statistical analysis of the diplomat's scores on neuropsychological tests, which seems faulty.]
