Are you opposing the selected term, or of using any form of description at all in this case?
I can't speak for shuize, but I think it's a loaded word that was invented for ideological reasons.

Sort of how "miz" (among Yankees) was distinctively the mark of a wimminz libber back in the 1960s.
Look how that turned out.

Does anyone use "Miss" anymore?

Here in Japan is a little different. One of the top people in my company is simply addressed as "Missus" (She is the president's wife.) The president is "Sha-cho" (president) and his wife, actually does have some sort of fancy title, although I can't remember it, is "Missus". And I'm pretty sure she likes it that way.

But, in America I would generally default to "Ms." unless the person in question specified otherwise.

So a former writer for Sesame Street claimed that Bert and Ernie are gay.

Sesame Workshop issued a statement saying that Bert and Ernie are puppets and despite having male characteristics, being puppets, they are genderless.

Sesame Workshop is now being attacked for being homophobic.

An issue that did not exist before the former writer said what he said is now a matter for intense debate.

This story gives me deja vu. (Why does the stupid autocorrect not recognize "deja vu"?)

I'm pretty sure something like this has happened before and Sesame Street put out almost exactly the same statement.

FWIW, Bert and Ernie being gay has been an in joke among gays since day one of Sesame Street.

And it has been current in the general population for years. Wasn't there an allusion or two on South Park or Family Guy or maybe The Simpsons?

All that has changed is the intensity of people giving a shit.

The key concept here is "joke". Which is to say to an objectively counterrevolutionary tactic for causing offense and pretend it's OK.

So The Verge made a video on how to build a gaming PC. Except they did it wrong, and dangerously so. When people pointed out that they built it wrong The Verge accused them of racism, of being part of the "toxic gaming community", and then disabled comments.

I can't speak for shuize, but I think it's a loaded word that was invented for ideological reasons.

I am for freedom and tolerance so I accept most transgender rights, but sometimes I think they go too far in demanding all sorts of special accommodations from the rest of us. The word "cisgender" itself is just one example. Why isn't just plain "man" and "woman" or "male" and "female" good enough? The claim is that it's just as "normal" to be transgender as it is to be, you know, "normal" (and they'll get angry if you use the word "normal" to mean "not transgender"). But, as Galileo once said, "And yet it moves." It is the norm, whether you like it or not. They want us to stop "assigning gender" to newborn babies. They want us to pay for their gender reassignment surgery (the cost can be more than $100,000). They want men's public restrooms to make accomodations for people who mensturate. I'm happy to be accepting and tolerant within reason, but that doesn't mean I need to accept unreasonable demands or substitute ideological "newspeak" jargon for traditional English.
Being unwilling to accept any of those demands does not require disregarding an informative term. There are people who live as a different gender than their biology. There are people who do not. Saying "normal" doesn't tell you that, because it doesn't speak to what you're in the majority on.

This one isn't even renaming something. It's a convenient term for something that definitely exists and did not have a name before. Nobody can make you use it, but I just don't understand the hostility to a term to describe something that has perfectly good reason to be described, and is not even a derogatory etymology. If you don't want to talk about it, just say you don't want to talk about it. Why pretend the obstacle is a word?

Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

One could argue that from an objective basis anything that advances the prime directive is "normal" and that anything else is "aberrant". The Prime Directive is, of course, ensuring that the species continues to exist which is, after all, why any individual exists.

In a society where there is no shortage of offspring, is there any negative to that society of things that do not contribute to the "prime directive"?

"Prime directive" in this context is just a slick re-framing in agnostic terms of the old argument of "God's law" or mutatis mutandis as it might be "being on the right side of HistoryTM.

I would like to point out to ed that Western Civilization is not a species. :P

Then you might find this editorial useful (or maybe not):

His observations about the pejorative nature of the term cisgender seem even more relevant today.

I will consider usng the terms “trans male” or “trans female.” But “cis-“ anything is bullshit. “Male” and “female” work just fine. As noted above, it’s a loaded term and I refuse to play their word games.
