Rogue TOXIC space station will crash into San Fran

Post by Rob Lister » Wed Mar 21, 2018 11:22 am

If you weren't breathless of the fur banning thread, this will certainly frighten you.

Rogue TOXIC space station could crash into Earth NEXT WEEK

AN OUT-OF-CONTROL space station packed with “cancer causing” chemicals could hit a number of major world cities, Earth has been warned.

I'm rooting for it to fly up Listy's ass.
"It is not I who is mad! It is I who is crazy!" -- Ren Hoek

"[... it seems most strange that... ] the Creator of Heaven and Earth resorted to the womb of a certain Jewish lady, grew there for nine months and was born as an infant, and afterwards grew up and was betrayed into the hands of his enemies who sentenced him to death and executed him, and that afterwards... he came to life and returned to his original place. The mind of a Jew, or any other person, simply cannot tolerate these assertions. If you have listened all your life to the priests who have filled your brain and the marrow of your bones with this doctrine, and it has settled into you because of that accustomed habit. [I would argue that if you were hearing these ideas for the first time, now, as a grown adult], you would never have accepted them." -- Rabbi Moses ben Nahman, defending the Talmud at the Disputation of Barcelona, July 1263.

"God is the supreme excuse for human adults to absolve themselves of any obligation to preserve natural resources for their own children during their lifetime." -- Gene Ray

He'd like that a bit too much for that to ever occur.

Too nice for the likes of this establishment.

Toxic, radioactive. WTF is the difference except how one dies?

70% of young Brits are 'not religious' (BBC)

But are they "spiritual"? :P

I'll readily admit that religion is toxic (and good riddance), but fail to see a link with the space station. :?

Religious beliefs crashing here and there?

Sometimes I wish I had named my daughter Debris, just so she could correct everyone and say "No, it's pronounced Deb-riss".

Latest estimates put reentry at sometime between March 29 and April 4. The location is still anyone's guess, although it should be between 43 degrees north and south.

So what should we expect? How big is that thing. For comparison ...

Communist Pinko Red Chinese Tiangong Space Station
Mass 8,506 kg (18,753 lb)
Length 10.4 m (34.1 ft)
Diameter 3.35 m (11.0 ft)

Democratic True Blue American Space Shuttle
Mass 2,030,000 kg (4,470,000 lb)
Length 56.1 m (184.2 ft)
Diameter 8.7 m (28.5 ft)
Mass 2,030 t (4,470,000 lb)

Well then. Our old space shuttle could eat that thing for breakfast.

For one I think it is wrong.
The ship does not orbit the earth at the equator so it's path along the ground traces a sign wave north and south that peaks at 43 degrees north and south.

I do not understand why they think the edges of the orbital inclination north and south have a greater probability; it doesn't spend any more time there than in the middle. It does look that way when you plot the inclination as a sign wave on a flat map projection but that's an illusion.

And, Rob, I think I speak for all of us here when I say that I am profoundly grateful that you have brought this incipient danger to our attention so that we can take appropriate action.

Kudos.
