Urushiol

I has it. Probably from shaking the bushes here, Boss. Need some doctoring.
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

When I said "shake the bushes," I didn't mean for you to do that to 'em.
What's your dirt doin' in my ditch?

Mowed the back field. Apparently there was poison ivy in strategic locations. Somehow managed to "get it."

My arms are slathered in calamine lotion. At least I won't get the hose again.

calamine is a waste of time; an iffy remedy at best. Go with oral and topical steroids and lots of benadryl. I'm not a doctor but I have a speculum.

Ah, somehow I've managed to avoid that particular unpleasantness so far. Nasty stuff, poison ivy. Or so I hear tell.

We seem to be the only species who can insulate ourselves from nature most of the time.
Anyone who watches a nature documentary would understand why that is necessary of course. Being a wild animal, of any species, is not an easy existence.

As far as I know (a counter-example would thrill me!) there is this strange fact: while dangerous/poisonous animals often advertise their nastiness (with so-called aposematic colors, the equivalent of our black/yellow stripes on dangerous places or machinery), the vile & sneaky plants never do so.

Another green conspiracy! :x
