Until it's under water my friend. Then you're fucked. Hopefully, none of us present today will live to see it.

Wikipedia wrote:Toynbee tiles

The Toynbee tiles (also called Toynbee plaques) are messages of unknown origin found embedded in asphalt of streets in about two dozen major cities in the United States and four South American cities. Since the 1980s, several hundred tiles have been discovered. They are generally about the size of an American license plate (roughly 30 cm by 15 cm), but sometimes considerably larger. They contain some variation of the following inscription:
TOYNBEE IDEA
IN MOViE `2001
RESURRECT DEAD
ON PLANET JUPITER

Some of the more elaborate tiles also feature cryptic political statements or exhort readers to create and install similar tiles of their own. The material used for making the tiles was initially unknown, but evidence has emerged that they may be primarily made of layers of linoleum and asphalt crack-filling compound. Articles about the tiles began appearing in the mid-1990s, though references may have started to appear in the mid-1980s.

Fortune wrote:Remington, the U.S.'s Oldest Gunmaker, Just Filed for Bankruptcy

Remington, the two-century-old U.S. gun manufacturer, has filed for bankruptcy protection.

The move—which Remington predicted last month—was revealed Sunday on the website of the United States Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, which listed Chapter 11 filings for Remington’s various businesses. The site did not include any details, and the company has not yet made an official announcement.

Remington told investors Friday that it had a negative operating cash flow of $7.4 million. Its 2017 revenues totalled $603.4 million, down just over 30% from the previous year.

Gunmakers, Remington included, have been seeing sales drop during the presidency of Donald Trump. Sales typically rise when it seems that new gun control legislation is more likely, and the current president has generally aligned himself with the firearms lobby.

Local startup creates portable chair that converts into bulletproof vest

SEATTLE - With security on the minds of many people following ongoing gun violence across the country, a local startup says it has a solution with a unique bulletproof vest.

Continued debate on how to best protect people has sparked ideas ranging from arming teachers, to hiring more armed guards to creating tougher gun laws.

The creator of the product is proposing a bulletproof vest that converts from a portable outdoor chair.

Made up of numerous layers of high-tech plastic fabric, the Prydwen can protect the wearer from bullets fired from handguns at all distances. It also includes an insert for an optional plate that can protect against high-powered rifle fire as well, according to the product’s website.

The creator of the product, Aaron Ansel of Practical Protection, said the Prydwen could be used for schools, offices and outdoor events. He showed KIRO 7 how it quickly transforms from a seat into a high-caliber ballistic vest.

Cops Caught Running Black Market Gun Trade—Using Badges to Sell Illegal Guns to Criminals

Gardena, CA – Two police officers have been indicted by a federal grand jury after they were caught illegally selling more than 100 firearms that the department deemed unsafe for the public, all while using their badges in an attempt to cover up their crimes.

The firearms sales took place between 2015 and 2017, and several of the buyers were convicted felons. Detective Carlos Miguel Fernandez, 42, and Officer Edward Yasushiro Arao, 47, were charged with a combined five felony counts that included “engaging in the business of dealing in firearms without a license and lying about it.”

The men were able to purchase “off-roster” firearms that are supposed to be reserved for police or military because of their status as police officers. They were then caught illegally selling those guns to the public, which included “straw buyers” who purchased the firearms for convicted felons who had been banned from buying guns.
