I’ve seen gator on the menu before, but never a whole alligator! Justin Wilbur, a cook at Clark's Fish Camp Seafood Restaurant, sent me this picture. I had so many questions! For $125 he told me this gator will feed 8-12 people. It’s tail and legs are wrapped in bacon and smoked for 5 to 6 hours rubbed down with a blend of season and bourbon whiskey. Would you eat this? The Times-Picayune wrote:Florida brewery unveils six-pack rings that feed sea turtles rather than kill them

You've probably seen the heart-wrenching photos of the damage plastic six-pack rings can do to marine life. They tangle the wings of sea birds, choke seals and warp the shells of growing sea turtles.

A Florida brewery has a solution: six-pack rings that that can either biodegrade or serve as a snack for wildlife. After years of research and development, the rings - made of wheat and barley - are now popping up in south Florida stores.

Saltwater Brewery, a craft microbrewery in Delray Beach, developed the rings with a startup called E6PR. Troubleshooting and manufacturing the rings was expensive. E6PR hopes other breweries - both small and large - will buy into the new rings and help bring costs down.

Plastic pollution is a big issue for the Gulf of Mexico. According to recent research by Louisiana State University, the Gulf has one of the world's highest concentrations of marine plastic. Each net or bottle dipped into the Gulf by LSU researchers came up laden with plastic.

Florida Didn't Run FBI Background Checks on Gun Buyers for a Year Because of a Forgotten Login

The state of Florida failed to conduct national background checks on tens of thousands of applicants looking to procure a concealed weapon permit for more than a year, and the reason is about as dumb as it gets: the person in charge of performing the checks forgot their login information.

An Office of Inspector General investigation obtained by the Tampa Bay Times showed that from February 2016 until March 2017, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services stopped using FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System—the primary database to make sure concealed carry applicants don’t have a checkered past in other states. No applications during that period underwent the required national background check.

Now I understand why ed moved there!

Seems to me that anyone selling a gun ought to have access to that database.

Not.

Indeed.

What's to stop some old fart from looking up his daughter's boyfriend, even if he's not trying to buy a firearm from dad?

Right, ed? :notsure:

BTW sent 2 daughters, 1 son and one son in law to get their concealed carry yesterday.

A political statement.

The body of a Florida woman who went missing on Friday was found just hours after some of her remains were discovered inside an alligator, officials said on Saturday.

The woman, identified as Shizuka Matsuki, 47, of Plantation, Fla., was last seen walking her dogs near a lake in the Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park in Davie, about 25 miles north of Miami, on Friday morning, the Davie Police Department said.

A man saw her walking her dogs there, and then minutes later saw the dogs running loose, one of them injured, reported WPLG, a local ABC affiliate. He called the police.

The man “went to the area where he thought that they had been walking, and he immediately spotted an alligator,” said Detective Viviana Gallinal..

Citing anonymous sources, local news outlets reported that an arm was found inside the alligator.

And how many times did that arm carry an alligator bag.

Think on that one. Florida is a land of ironies.

Dogs are especially attractive to alligators
