Right up there with their aircraft carrier and various submarines.

Well, they can't all be gems and jewels.
You can lead them to knowledge, but you can't make them think.

That picture is from a time when cutting objects out was done by hand, on a print. (I'm spoiling you… )

Still doesn't really explain it IMO but I will "pay" you back for spoiling me with a moving picture link of the production of those locomotives

Streamlining very like the 20th Century Limited (Chicago-New York).

It looks like what you expect a steam locomotive to look like without the cowling (which comes off for maintenance).

Well, you should know.

Simply imagine erasing the background on a print with white paint, akin to Tip-Ex, then rephotographing the result. (Variant: cut out with scissors, paste on a different background, smooth transition with ink or soft pencil.)
For the modern way, 250+ Photoshop tutorials on YT, just search for "remove background" or "cut out object".

Thanks for the link, I'll watch later. :)

They must have wanted to isolate that locomotive in the photo and literally painted out everything else. Amateur work.
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

But how come they didn't use clean coal?
"It is not I who is mad! It is I who is crazy!" -- Ren Hoek

"[... it seems most strange that... ] the Creator of Heaven and Earth resorted to the womb of a certain Jewish lady, grew there for nine months and was born as an infant, and afterwards grew up and was betrayed into the hands of his enemies who sentenced him to death and executed him, and that afterwards... he came to life and returned to his original place. The mind of a Jew, or any other person, simply cannot tolerate these assertions. If you have listened all your life to the priests who have filled your brain and the marrow of your bones with this doctrine, and it has settled into you because of that accustomed habit. [I would argue that if you were hearing these ideas for the first time, now, as a grown adult], you would never have accepted them." -- Rabbi Moses ben Nahman, defending the Talmud at the Disputation of Barcelona, July 1263.

"God is the supreme excuse for human adults to absolve themselves of any obligation to preserve natural resources for their own children during their lifetime." -- Gene Ray

If that's the Baghdad/Mosul line, very likely they are burning oil.

Or "bunker C" to be precise. Most associated with steamships of that era.

One on the left, a greenie. On the right, a climate change denier.

Looks like we're about to have an epic collision too as the tracks appear to be converging.

I think that they would retouch the negative rather than the print. With a brush and some sort of paint. That is how they got rid of all evidence of trilobites in zoo pictures. There were many exhibits featuring trilobites but they have been expunged from the human record.
- new minimalist ethos -

Actually it's the one on the left, idling.

From the angle of convergence I'm guessing a turntable is just off to the left.
