Did they have their protest? Was it big enough to make the news?

If the one that was scheduled for Cleveland ever happened, no news organization cared.

Is Matt Taibbi part of the "movement"?

At any rate, he has been excommunicated from it (or maybe the human race).

If all of that stuff is actually true, it is pretty disturbing. And I don't think you have to be an SJW like peezus to be bothered by it.
“You’re always trying to force Masha and Sveta under the table to give you blow jobs. It’s not funny. They don’t think it’s funny,” Kara complained. “But… it is funny,” Matt said. We have been pretty rough on our girls. We’d ask our Russian staff to flash their asses or breasts for us. We’d tell them that if they wanted to keep their jobs, they’d have to perform unprotected anal sex with us. Nearly every day, we asked our female staff if they approved of anal sex. That was a fixation of ours. “Can I fuck you in the ass? Huh? I mean, without a rubber? Is that okay?” It was all part of the fun.”
That's like textbook sexual harassment. And there's more.

Suppose it turned out that Richard Feynman had been a pickup artist? Yes I know.

Would you ignore his entire oeuvre?

No, but that hardly seems analogous. I've always thought Taibbi was a bit of a blowhard anyway.

It's not just sexual harassment, they also seem to have been bragging about rape and sex with minors (allegedly, if all that is true; since it seems that the source is Taibbi and Ames' own words, if they did indeed write those words, I would find it pretty damning).

If you simply mean can I make a distinction between an argument itself and the person making the argument, yes I think I can do that. For example, Einstein's theories can stand on their own, regardless of what you think of Einstein the man, even if we find out he ate babies.

Ah, I see. I'd need more details than that though before revising my opinion of the man. His ideas can stand on their own.

Not every great scientist was a saint in his personal life. To make another analogy, Mozart's music is what it is. Even if he had problems in his personal life, it doesn't make the music any less great.

He's certainly no Feynman, it was not my intention to imply such a thing.

But if Feynman were still around, Peezus would be trying to excommunicate him in the same terms.

In the LOLWUT news.

KPFA cancels Richard Dawkins’ speech because of his tweets about Islam
In the latest Berkeley controversy over what speakers may talk about, the progressive radio station KPFA has canceled an Aug. 9 on-stage appearance by the scientist Richard Dawkins.

KPFA had invited the British scientist to discuss his newest book, Science in the Soul: Collected Writings of a Passionate Rationalist, which it termed “excellent.” But on Thursday the news organization canceled the event, citing concerns about the tone of some of Dawkins’ tweets about Muslims.

“We had booked this event based entirely on his excellent new book on science when we didn’t know he had offended and hurt – in his tweets and other comments on Islam, so many people,” KPFA said in an email sent to ticket buyers. “KPFA does not endorse hurtful speech. While KPFA emphatically supports serious free speech, we do not support abusive speech. We apologize for not having had broader knowledge of Dawkins views much earlier.”
And is the tradition of modern times, the appropriate reply by Dawkins was to shitpost on tweeter.

Snopes is in trouble:

Snopes Faces an Ugly Legal Battle

So for those (myself included) who didn't know, the founders of Snopes, a married couple, got divorced in 2015. That has finally led to this situation.
On Monday, the editorial staff of Snopes.com wrote a short plea for help. The post said that the site needed money to fund its operations because another company that Snopes had contracted with “continues to essentially hold the Snopes.com web site hostage.”

“Our legal team is fighting hard for us, but, having been cut off from all revenue, we are facing the prospect of having no financial means to continue operating the site and paying our staff (not to mention covering our legal fees) in the meanwhile,” the note continued.

It was a shocking message from a website that’s been around for more than 20 years—and that’s become a vital part of internet infrastructure in the #fakenews era. The site’s readers have responded. Already, more than $92,000 has been donated to a GoFundMe with a goal of $500,000.

So, what’s going on? Well, it probably won’t surprise you that there’s a startup tech company and a lawsuit involved. There are claims and counterclaims. But if you want to know the gory details that are available in the court filings, here we go.

Why can't he just use the millions George Soros is bankrolling him with?
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"
